      Charles K. Segal ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mr. Charles Kurtz Segal, 78, died April 7, 2015, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel at 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill with the Rev. Irvin Plowden Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Born July 11, 1936, in Statesville, N.C., Mr. Segal was the son of the late Morris and Sarah Kurtz Segal. He graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1953. Charles attended Clemson University, graduating in 1958 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. While at Clemson, he was a member of the ROTC. On graduation he received a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served in the U.S. Army, then reserves as a Lieutenant. Charles retired from Hoechst Celanese after a long career. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge 1318 in Rock Hill. Charles loved the Clemson Tigers and was a longtime member of IPTAY. He was a devoted family man who adored his wife, children and grandson. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Ann Barron Segal; his son, Charles Kurtz Segal Jr. (Deann) of Rock Hill; grandson, Harrington Charles Segal of Rock Hill; daughter, Ashley Barron Segal of Rock Hill; brothers, Dr. Sammy Segal (Peggy) of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Barry Segal (Linda) of Casa Grande, Ariz.; sister, Barbara Rowley (Lee) of River Hills, S.C.; stepsister, Susan Renas of Dunwoody, Ga.; sister-in-law, Cindy Barron Rywak (Michael) of Hickory, N.C. and niece, Jessica Barron Martin of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or to the York County Clemson Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 2626, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
