    Text Mrs. Rebecca "Betty" (Welton) Wilson, 94, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, at Litchfield Woods Health Care in Torrington. She was the widow of James S. Wilson, to whom she was married for 54 years. Betty was born June 25, 1920 and grew up in Thomaston, Bristol and Florida. She was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Rebecca (Smithwick) Welton. She graduated from high school in Bristol in 1938. She subsequently graduated from Morse Business School and worked in several secretarial and administrative positions including nearly 20 years at Grove Street School and Thomaston Middle School. In addition to her career, Betty was a frequent volunteer with many local civic and charitable organizations. She was an active and devoted parishioner of St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Thomaston, including service as a Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed spending time and traveling with her husband Jim and their wide circle of friends, especially her lifelong friend, Bea Fuller. She loved watching UCONN basketball and Red Sox games on her wide screen TV. Most importantly, she doted on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Robert C. Wilson and his wife Donna of Burlington, James W. Wilson and his wife Margie of Thomaston and Rebecca Lyons and her husband Thomas of Fairfield. In addition, she is survived by her six grandchildren, Brian Wilson and his wife Sarah, Jeremy Wilson and his wife Heather, Sarah B. Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Patrick Lyons and Robert Lyons and five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Welton. Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 26, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
