Bernard J. Cianchetti, 63, of Bristol, husband of Carol (Packer) Cianchetti died Wednesday, (January 25, 2006) at home. Born in Bristol, March 30, 1942, he was a son of the late Theodore and Lucy (Argenta) Cianchetti, Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Bristol. Early on in his career he was a tool and die maker and a foreman at Ray Machine Co., Terryville. Bernie started out building racing car engines and then opened and operated Competition Automotive and C-A Service Center on Park St., Bristol, for 35 years. He was involved in real estate for many years in Bristol. Bernie was an auto enthusiast and raced at Connecticut Drag-way and other drag strips along the east coast. In the last few years he enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and UCONN Women's Basketball. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church. Besides his wife Carol, he leaves two brothers, Joseph Cianchetti and Theodore Cianchetti, Jr. both of Bristol; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, Bristol. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Assoc., 4 Oxford Rd., Unit D1-2, Milford, CT 06460.
